Pawar is man-of-the-match, says Sushma
NEW DELHI,
OCT. 17.
A day after crediting the United Progressive Alliance chairperson, Sonia Gandhi, with the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party combine's victory in the Maharashtra polls, the BJP, Sushma Swaraj, today said the media had distorted her comments.
Ms. Swaraj told a television channel yesterday that credit should also go to Ms. Gandhi as she was the president of the Congress and it was winning.
However, today she termed the statements attributed to her as false and said the Congress had given its worst ever performance in the State. The man-of-the-match in the just concluded elections was Sharad Pawar and not Ms. Gandhi, she said. Ms. Gandhi's leadership was not an issue in the Maharashtra elections. — PTI
