Ganapathi's message to jailed comrades
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
OCT. 17.
The Communist Party of India (Maoist) has promised its jailed members that this new party, which has emerged out of the unification of the erstwhile CPI (ML) Peoples' War and Maoist Communist Centre of India, would "spare no effort to get you free."
In a "message to jail comrades" released here on Sunday, the CPI (Maoist)'s general secretary, Ganapathi, congratulated the jailed naxalites for "holding aloft the dignity of the red flag in the enemy camp" and for "turning the jails into schools of revolution and centres of struggle." Stating that the jailed members were being tortured, he said that their struggle would only strengthen the "new democratic revolution."
The letter made special note of the 11 members of the party who were recently awarded the death penalty by a court in Jharkhand, the 11 members who were awarded life imprisonment in Orissa and the 21 men and five women jailed in Tamil Nadu.
