The Hindu jobs fair gets overwhelming response

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI, OCT. 17. The curtains came down today on `The Hindu Opportunities Fair 2004,' a one-of-its-kind event in the city, that received an overwhelming response from job-seekers and provided the participating companies a platform to scout for the best talent under one roof.

The three-day fair at MRC Centre saw thousands of candidates, both those with work experience and fresh candidates, vying for the jobs on offer from some of the leading companies in the field of information technology, IT-enabled services, business process outsourcing, manufacturing, engineering and insurance.

While a few of the 32 companies offered jobs on the spot, others short-listed the candidates for a final round of interviews beginning Monday.

Several companies said they would look at the resume and psychometric test results of candidates who gave their registration number at the stalls in the days ahead and call those matching their requirements for an interview.
