Former beauty queen petitions `annalu'

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, OCT. 17. Sunday saw the naxal leader, Ramakrishna, receiving petitions submitted by people from all walks of life.

The most pathetic case was that of Narla Vijayalakshmi, about 35 years old, who had won the local beauty contest in Khammam in 1984 and 1986. She walked up to Manjeera Guesthouse with her `pallu' covering half her face, to speak to `annalu.'

It turned out that she was the victim of an acid attack in 1988 and had been seeking justice ever since.

Another of the `aggrieved' was the wife of a conductor in the Hayatnagar depot of the APSRTC. She complained of harassment by her husband and in-laws for several years now and told Mr. Ramakrishna that she had come to `annalu' as the last resort.

The other naxalite leader, Ganesh of the North Telangana Special Zonal Committee in the erstwhile People's War, CPI (Maoist) representatives, Vara Vara Rao and G. Kalyan Rao and several others visited S.R. Sankaran, one of the mediators at his house this afternoon.
