By Our Staff Reporter

KOTTAYAM, OCT. 18. The people's representatives in the district failed to appear before the Police (Performance and Accountability) Commission which held its public hearing here today.

As indicated earlier, former additional chief secretary, T. N. Jayachandran, and former Director General of Police, K. V. Rajagopalan Nair, both members, were also present today.

Though the people's representatives were conspicuous by their absence, the police officers in the district had arrived in full force to put forward their suggestions to the Commission. Those who deposed before the Commission included P. I. Mani representing the Consumer Guidance Society, M. C. Mathew of Manushyavakasa Janakeeya Samithy, H.Abdul Azeez, M. G. Gopalakrishnan, Mathew Maliekal and Anil Gopinath.

Mr. Thomas later said that the Commission intends to submit its report by November end.
