Innings win for Tamil Nadu

VISAKHAPATNAM, OCT. 18. Tamil Nadu recorded a resounding innings and 193-run victory over Goa with a day to spare in the opening engagement of the Polly Umrigar Trophy under-15 South Zone inter-state cricket tournament here on Monday.

The feature of the match on the second day at the Ukku Stadium was centuries by both the openers N. Surya Prakash and Abhinav Mukund, and devastating spells by P.K. Dharma and I.T. Baig who shared 10 wickets as Goa was all out for 22 in the second innings.

The host, Andhra, is also on the verge of registering a big win over Kerala. Andhra declared its first innings at 258 for five, a lead of 210 runs and Kerala in the second innings was reeling at 90 for eight at the end of the penultimate day at the HZL grounds.

In another match, Karnataka secured a slender 17-run lead in the first innings over Hyderabad, which was all out for 154. In the second innings, Karnataka ended the second day at 14 for two.

The scores: Goa 102 and 22 (PK Dharma 5 for six, IT Baig 5 for 10) lost to Tamil Nadu 317 for five decl. (Abhinav Mukund 136, N. Surya Prakash 102).

Kerala 48 and 90 for eight (Sachin Baby 41, M. Ajay Kumar four for 23) vs Andhra 258 for five decl. (T.G. Ganesh Kumar 60 n.o., Md. Shoiab 53, T. Atchut 52) Karnataka 171 and 14 for two vs Hyderabad 154 (Nikhilesh Kumar 40).
