CHENNAI, OCT. 18. For the third time it was a podium gold medal finish for the Tamil Nadu girls in the National junior rowing championships held at Roorkee (Uttaranchal) from October 7 to 10. The squad of Vasavi Sundaram, Swathy Sanjay, Sneha Venkat and Gowri Adappa emerged the winner in the coxless fours event on the historic Upper Ganges canal course with a time of eight minutes 0.1.57s. The second gold for Tamil Nadu surfaced in the doubles sculls where Swathy Sanjay and Gowri Adappa clocked 8:21.95s. to get the better of the Orissa pair. Effectively, it was a golden double in the championships for the talented TN pair of Swathy Sanjay and Gowri Adappa.
