Steps to rectify aircraft snag

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 18. The IL-78 aircraft of Indian Air Force that made an emergency landing at the international airport here on Sunday afternoon following a failure in the hydraulic system is still grounded and efforts are on to rectify the snag. An official of the airport said the work to rectify the snag is on and the aircraft is likely to depart from the international airport on Tuesday. The IL-78 aircraft that arrived with spares from Gwalior on Monday night took off from the airport at 8 a.m. today.

Protest

The Trivandrum Social Service Society has protested against the increasing number of attacks on fisherwomen. The Corporation officials and other authorities were turning a blind eye to the goonda elements in the market which were extorting money from fisherwomen, the Director of T.S.S.S, Fr. George J. Gomez, said.

Holiday

The State science and Technology Museum and Priyadarshini Planetarium will be closed on October 22 on account of Mahanavami, the Director has informed. The Passport office also will remain closed on Thursday and Friday on account of Dussehra, an official release said.

Appeal

The Corporation will appeal to the Government to upgrade Ponnara Sreedhar Memorial UP school in Sreevaraham ward as a High school, it was decided at the Corporation Council meeting held on Tuesday. The decision was on the basis of an appeal by the Deputy Mayor and Sreevaraham ward councillor, M. Sujanapriyan.
