THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 19. The State Election Commissioner today issued an interim ban on the former chairman of the Palai Municipal Council, A.C. Joseph, from functioning as a councillor. Mr. Joseph, a lecturer at the St. Thomas College, was the municipal chairman till August 8. The complaint against him was that he had drawn the honorarium of the chairman while continuing to receive the lecturer's salary from the Government. This is against Section 10(1) of the Kerala Municipalities Act, an official press release said. The interim order will be in force till the State Election Commissioner hears the case and gives his final verdict.
