Advani hails Jayalalithaa on Veerappan killing

NEW DELHI,
OCT. 19.
The new Bharatiya Janata Party president, L.K. Advani, telephoned the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, this morning and congratulated her on "a job well done" by the Special Task Force — that of shooting down forest brigand Veerappan last night.
"As soon as I saw the newspaper this morning I spoke to Ms. Jayalalithaa to congratulate her,'' Mr. Advani told reporters at the BJP office where he took charge as party president. For years the police had been trying to hunt Veerappan down, but he always managed to elude the net. The Tamil Nadu STF had done a good job.
