ITBP exhibition

NEW DELHI OCT. 19. To mark the 42nd anniversary of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Himveer Wives Welfare Association has organised an exhibition of products prepared by welfare centres of the force. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Delhi Chief Minister, Shiela Dikshit, at R.K. Puram on Monday. A photo exhibition highlighting the achievements of the force has also been put on view.

Various handicraft items, carpets, woollen garments, and other attractive products from the remote area of Ladakh, Kashmir, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh and other eastern States have been displayed in the exhibition. The fund generated from the sale will be utilised for the welfare of the families of Himveer. The exhibition is open till October 20.

CBSE marking schemes available

NEW DELHI OCT. 19. The marking schemes of the Central Board of Secondary Education for Class X and XII are now available in the CBSE publication store. The four publications on marking scheme for Class X and the Science, Commerce and Humanities stream of Class XII will be available in all the regional offices of the CBSE between 9-30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

It would include the marking scheme of question papers administered in and outside Delhi. In a release issued on Monday, the CBSE has urged teachers and students to make use of the publications to get an idea of the syllabus and weight age for all subjects and to examine the questions in with the marking scheme.

Tree Plantation Day

NEW DELHI OCT. 19 Ahlcon Public School in Mayur Vihar observed "Tree Plantation and Environment Awareness Day" on October 12. Addressing the students the School principal, R.K. Sharma, underlined the importance of trees. The students of environmental club put up a skit on water conservation and sang songs highlighting the need for preserving the environment. The function concluded by planting of 60 saplings in the school premises. The programme was conducted by Meenakshi Singh Deo, the eco-club in-charge.

Focus on combating terrorism

NEW DELHI OCT. 19. Condemning terrorism as the most ominous global threat to humanity, the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) and the Indian Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries (IAFFC) organised a seminar on "Combating International Terrorism: Indian and Russian Approaches" and a photo exhibition titled "Faces of International Terrorism in Russia" here on Monday. The former Union Minister, Eduardo Faleiro, inaugurated the exhibition.

Addressing the gathering, the RCSC Director, Fyodor Rozovskiy, said that international terrorism was common to both Russia and India and it is the commonality of concern and convergence of commitment that had brought both under the same roof.

Workshop on dental surgery

NEW DELHI OCT. 19. Dental Practitioners' Forum of India (DPFI) organised a seminar and workshop on "Predictable bone growth using plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF)" at Sunder Lal Jain Hospital here on Sunday. More than 100 eminent dental surgeons from Delhi and other States participated in the workshop. Kiran Kelkar demonstrated the method of separating the growth factor using a specialised centrifugal machine. G.K. Gupta performed a surgery on a patient with periodontal defects. The general secretary of DPFI, Anil Agarwal, informed that the DPFI was continuously holding various dental education programmes and camps from time to time to benefit the public.

Navratri celebrations

NEW DELHI OCT. 19. Santoshi Mata Mandir in Hari Nagar is celebrating its 65th Navratri festival with great enthusiasm. The temple has been decorated with flowers and lights and close circuit televisions have also been installed for a better view. Adequate arrangements have been made for devotees coming for `darshan'.
