By Our Diplomatic Correspondent

NEW DELHI, OCT. 19. The External Affairs Minister, Natwar Singh, and the visiting Chinese State Councillor, Tang Jiaxuan, held talks at the Hyderabad House this evening. The talks were followed by a dinner hosted by Mr. Singh in honour of Mr. Tang.

The discussions, which focused on bilateral affairs, also dealt with regional, international and multilateral issues of mutual interest. This is Mr. Tang's first visit to India after he took over as the State Councillor in charge of foreign affairs in 2003. This post was earlier held by the Vice-Premier, Qian Qichen.
