Labour Department exemption for shops

HYDERABAD, OCT. 19. The Deputy Commissioner of Labour, Hyderabad, has exempted all shops and establishments situated in the twin cities and in the municipal areas of Kukatpally, Malkajgiri, Uppal and Alwal from certain provisions of the Act to shops and establishments from October 15 to November 14 (both days inclusive) in view of Dasara, Deepavali and Ramzan festivals.

The holidays already declared on October 23 and November 1 are excluded from the exemption.

The exemption is granted subject to the conditions that overtime wages shall be paid to the employees, compensatory holiday will be given to the employees and the work time shall not exceed beyond 13 and a half hours on any day including Sunday and the opening and closing hours of the shop shall be shifted from 8.30 a.m. to 9 a.m. The exemption of one hour given during this festival period shall extend up to 10. p.m., according to an official release.
