HYDERABAD, OCT. 19. The M. Venkatarangaiya Foundation (MVF), in co-ordination with the European Campaign Against Child Labour, is organising an international conference on `Out of work and into school - children's right to education as a non-negotiable', at Lalita Kala Thoranam here on November 4 and 5. At a press conference, Shantha Sinha, Magsaysay awardee and secretary trustee, and R. Venkat Reddy, MVF coordinator, said the conference, to be attended by delegates from some 20 countries besides some 2000 from India, would proceed with the principle that all forms of child labour were unacceptable and all children should go to formal full-time school. Members of the European Parliament, representatives from the European Commission, NGOs working on child labour from Asia, Africa and Latin America, donor agencies, international and national networks and trade unions would participate. The MVF was planning to look at domestic child labour in Hyderabad. A survey had estimated them to be 40,000 and there was a requirement of 70 bridge schools, in addition to the 30 already existing.
