HYDERABAD, OCT. 19. It was an emotional reunion for Janashakti State secretary, Amar, and his mother, Kura Mallamma, and other family members at the Manjeera Government Guesthouse here on Tuesday. Mallamma recalled that her son had left home from Vemulawada in Karimnagar district 30 years ago and never saw them again. She did not know his whereabouts. Mallamma turned up at the guesthouse with her two daughters.
Flutter
A flutter was caused at the guesthouse on another occasion when the guards of the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), the protection team of the CPI (Maoist) leaders attending the peace talks, nabbed an intelligence official as he sat among the newsmen and noted down the speeches. He was handed over to the police. Earlier, addressing women's organisations, the CPI (Maoist) leader, Ramakrishna, said that the recruitment of women in the organisation had increased to about 35 per cent. The party had taken up anti-patriarchal struggles, as a result of which women were able to fight for their rights. He said that patta land should be given in the name of women. Ramakrishna said that though they were receiving plenty of petitions on various problems, these could be solved only through struggles. APCLC leader Ratnamala, feminist writer Volga and women's activist Vasanta Kannabiran were among those who interacted with the naxalite leaders.
