KOCHI, OCT. 20. The `education bandh' called by pro-Left student organisations under the banner of the Vidyarthi Samara Samithy today in protest against the educational policies of the United Democratic Front (UDF) Government was total in the district. The striking students burnt the Minister for Cooperation, M.V. Raghavan, in effigy in protest against the Government's failure to keep its promises on admission to self-financing engineering colleges. A march was taken out from Maharaja's College to Ernakulam boat jetty. Classes were suspended in Government colleges in connection with the bandh. Some of the CBSE schools in the district had also declared a holiday in view of the bandh.
