Vasu SC advances
BANGALORE,
OCT. 20.
Vasu Sports Club (Hubli) upset Sports Authority of India `D' 1-0 to qualify for the semifinal phase of the State `C' division league hockey tournament at the KSHA stadium here on Wednesday. SAI `D' needed only a draw to qualify but a spirited display from Vasu SC put paid to SAI's plans. Sunil Jadhav scored the match winner in the 14th minute. Six teams have qualified to the semifinals.
In the second match, Bagalkot HC swamped Falcon HC 11-1. The match was stopped some ten minutes before the scheduled close due to a heavy downpour. Bagalkot opted to end its fixtures after the rain abated and ended up facile winners. Mahantesh Hadli slammed in six goals (18, 28, 42, 44, 50 and 56) and was supported by Ambarish Chabli (5th), Yogesh Abdulpur (11th and 2nd), Sidhu Joshi (33rd) and Kattimani (46th). Adhil was the only scorer for Falcons scoring in the 55th minute.
