Ford India's export effort

CHENNAI: Ford India's exports crossed the 5000th container mark recently. With this, the company had exported over one lakh completely knocked down units (CKDs) of Ikon cars from its export plant, says to a release. Ford India, it claimed, adopted global standards of CKD pack engineering and Ford's international software systems for material management and export packaging to suit container capacity. The Ford India export plant, a greenfield site, commenced operations in May 2000 by exporting Ikon parts in CKD condition. — Our Special Correspondent
