Patil's assurance to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka

NEW DELHI, OCT. 20. The Union Home Minister, Shivraj Patil, today assured all possible assistance to the Governments of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to ensure that the situation in the forests returns to normal, with the forest brigand Veerappan having been eliminated.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Patil complimented the two State Governments and the Special Task Force personnel for the victory achieved in shooting down the notorious criminal and his associates. He expressed the hope that people in the area would heave a sigh of relief with Veerappan's elimination.
