TUMKUR, OCT. 21. Kavita Krishna, writer, said here on Wednesday that Vachana Sahitya and Dasa Sahitya were the two eyes of Kannada literature. Speaking at a seminar titled "Dasanagu Visheshanagu," Mr. Krishna noted that though devotional literature could be traced to the Vedic period, Vachanakaras had started the trend in Kannada in the 12th Century. Dasas followed it up by taking devotional literature to the doorstep of the people, he said. Mr. Krishna, who is a winner of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Sarvothama Acharya Award, said he was disgusted at the obscenity in television serials. The youth should be introduced to Dasa Sahitya, he added. The seminar was a part of a series of programmes being organised by the Tirupathi Dasa Sahitya Project to promote Dasa Sahitya. Mr. Krishna commended the organisation for striving towards popularising Dasa Sahitya. Tumkooru Sunanda, president of the Gamaka Kala Parishat; Annapoorna V.N., president of the Lekhakiyara Sangha; and K.S. Siddalingappa, president of the College Principals' Association; spoke. Schoolchildren impressively rendered a number of Dasara Padagalu.
