India blanks Singapore

India came up with a clinical performance to blank Singapore and qualified for the play-offs for 9-12 position in the World Junior team championship at Richmond, Canada.
The Indians, who had lost against Chinese Taipei in their last league encounter and finished second in Group Y subgroup 2, registered a 3-0 win against Singapore to finish third in the Group and enter the play-offs for 9-12 position on Friday night, according to information received here.
The Indians were given a great start by Saina Nehwal as she thrashed Li En Colleen Goh 11-1, 11-1 in just 13 minutes and Indian junior Anand Pawar made it 2-0 with a 15-1 15-9 victory over Swee Hau Chew.
Nehwal then teamed up with Aparna Balan in the girl's doubles to beat Yu Yan Vanessa Neo and Goh 15-11 15-6 to complete the rout. PTI
