A new train now for Goa

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, OCT. 23. Yet another train was added to the list of Sampark Kranti expresses today when the Union Minister of State for Railways, Naran Bhai J. Rathwa, flagged off the Goa Sampark Kranti Express from Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station here in the Capital. The train will leave Delhi on Saturdays at 7-25 a.m. and reach Madgaon the next day at 1-15 p.m.

The Goa Sampark Kranti Express is the fourth of the 18 superfast State-to-National Capital trains promised in this year's Railway Budget. Earlier this week, another Sampark Kranti train was started between Delhi and Kathgodam in Uttaranchal.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rathwa said the Goa Sampark Kranti Express would provide quicker connectivity. The Goa Sampark Kranti Express would have three stoppages -- Pernem, Thivim and Karmali -- and AC I and AC II, sleeper and general coaches.

The Member of Parliament from New Delhi, Ajay Maken, the Congress MLA, Tajdar Babar, the Additional General Manager of the Northern Railway, V.K. Paul, and the Divisional Railway Manager, P.K. Goel, were among those present on the occasion.
