`Chautala regime favouring construction firm'

By Our Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH, OCT.23. The Congress MLA, Karan Singh Dalal, has levelled allegations against the Om Prakash Chautala regime in Haryana and accused it of favouring a big construction company worth over Rs 1,000 crores during its present tenure.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Dalal handed over to mediapersons copies of a detailed memorandum along with attached documents which he has sent to the State Governor, A.R. Kidwai, seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and dismissal of the State Government.

Mr. Dalal has alleged that the State Cabinet not only legalised several concessions given to DLF Limited in violation of the policies laid down for the general public but also relaxed the existing policies as "special cases".

The Congress MLA charged that the powers that be had convened special Cabinet meetings with the sole agenda to approve proposals for grant of concessions to the builder in the sprawling Gurgaon belt. He further charged that a perusal of the documents pertaining to the Cabinet meetings clearly indicated that these concessions included among others permission to construct on vast stretches of land left for parks and other public utilities. "The State Government had also allotted land of the Wazirabad village panchayat in Gurgaon district to the builder for developing a golf course even though as per rules only fruit trees could be planted on this land."
