NEW DELHI, OCT. 24. India lost to Hong Kong 2-3 in its first match of the play-offs for 9-12 position in the World junior badminton team championship at Richmond, Canada, according to information received here on Sunday. Russia blanked Slovenia 3-0 to finish within the top ten. Saina Nehwal and Anand Pawar lost the girls' and boys' singles respectively. Saina went down to Pui Yin Yip 8-11, 13-11, 9-11, while Anand lost to Wai Hong Wong 6-15, 15-10, 12-15. India won both the boys' and girls' doubles to level the scores 2-2. The Nehwal-Aparna Balan duo defeated Sin Ying Lam and Kwan Yi mong 15-9, 15-8, while Sagar Chopda and Jinsgu Sanyal registered a 11-15, 15-1, 15-7 win over Wai Ho Hui and Chun Yin Leung. In the deciding mixed doubles, Anand and Aparna lost to Won and Yip 6-15, 15-4, 10-15. PTI
