RAMANATHAPURAM, OCT. 24. Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai (zone VII) won the over-all title in the Anna University inter-zone volleyball tournament defeating St. Joseph's Engineering College, Chennai (zone I) in an absorbing encounter which went to the full extent at Syed Ammal Engineering College ground here on Sunday. Kongu Engineering College won 26-24, 20-25, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12 and incidentally this was a sweet revenge for Kongu Engineering College as it lost to St. Joseph's Engineering College in the zone (champion colleges) final on Saturday night. In the third place play-off, zone VII combined team bt zone IX combined team 25-13, 24-26, 25-14, 25-21. In the semifinals, Kongu Engineering College beat Zone IX combined team 25-8, 25-13, 25-7. St. Joseph's College beat Zone VII combined team 25-19, 25-23, 25-13. Earlier, St. Joseph's Engineering College, Chennai won the (champion colleges) inter-zone title defeating Kongu Engineering College 25-23, 30-28, 25-19. In the combined teams final, zone IX beat zone VII 21-25, 10-25, 26-24, 25-14, 15-13.
