NEW DELHI, OCT. 25. Three labourers sustained injuries when a metal piece fell down on them during dismantling of a metallic launcher used in piecing together pre-fabricated segments between two pillars on a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) site at Uttam Nagar in West Delhi today. According to the fire department, the metal piece fell on the three labourers from pillar No. 661 in Uttam Nagar around 12-45 p.m. Three labourers who sustained injuries were already rushed to a nearby hospital by the time the fire brigade team reached there. The spokesperson for the DMRC said the metallic launcher was being removed as the task of assembling had been done. One of the metal pieces slipped and fell on the ground. Three labourers, Man Singh (25), Pervez (32) and Jai Ram (26), sustained injuries. While Pervez and Jai Ram were released after first aid from a nearby hospital, Man Singh was taken to Lohia Hospital where his condition was reported to be serious and he was put under observation. The labourers had been employed by S.K. Engineering, which had taken up the task on sub-contract. Following the incident, DMRC has instituted an internal inquiry. Meanwhile, the Uttam Nagar police have also launched investigations into the incident.
