CHANDIGARH, OCT. 25. Over 21.53 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in the Haryana Mandis till yesterday as against about 16.34 lakh tonnes of the crop which arrived during corresponding period last year. The days's arrival was 1.15 lakh metrick tonnes, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said here today. He said that out of the total paddy arrival, about 11.33 lakh metric tonnes had been procured by Government agencies at the Minimum Support Price fixed by the Central Government and the remaining about 10.20 lakh tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and traders, which included about 7.65 lakh tonnes leviable and 2.55 lakh tonnes non-leviable paddy. He said that the Food and Supplies Department had procured 2.76 lakh tonnes of paddy followed by Hafed with 4.96 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporaltion 1.31 lakh tonnes, Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation 76,938 tonnes, Food Corporation of India 80,841 tonnes and Confed 71,583 tonnes. The spokesman said that Kurukshetra district was leading with about 5.27 lakh metric tonnes of paddy arrival followed by Karnal with 4.12 lakh tonnes and Fatehabad with 3.21 lakh tonnes. He said that over 1.23 lakh tonnes of bajra had also arrived in the state mandis, out of which about 1.17 lakh tonnes had been purchased by the government agencies at the Minimum Support Price. - PTI
