Uttar Pradesh
LUCKNOW, OCT. 25. The Congress today said the BJP would never act on its threat to bring a no-confidence motion against the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh. ``I would not believe the BJP on such issues till the time the matter comes on the agenda of the legislative Assembly in the next session,'' the UPCC president, Jagdambika Pal, told reporters. Mr. Pal was asked whether his party -- supporting the State government from outside -- would support the BJP in its proposed no-confidence motion. The BJP legislature party leader, Lalji Tandon, had said on Saturday that the party would bring a no-confidence motion against the government on its failure on various issues. He said a final decision would be taken after a BJP meeting this week. ``The BJP had said it would hold a demonstration against the government outside the CM's residence to protest lathi charge on party workers in Kanpur... however, they went inside the CM's house and enjoyed his hospitality instead,'' Mr Pal said. The UP Congress chief said he would trust the BJP only if its leaders gave the electorate a written undertaking. ``As for Congress, a decision on whether to support such a motion would be taken by the Congress Working Committee (CWC),'' he added.--PTI
