ADILABAD, OCT. 25. The body of the AR constable, Mothe Ram Lingam, who went missing on October 23 with two .303 rifles and 100 rounds of ammunition, was found early on Monday in an open field behind his house in Devapur village in Talamadugu mandal. The body had a bullet wound in the head. The two rifles and 99 live rounds were recovered from the scene. The police had on Sunday arrested Elaiah, Ram Lingam's wife's brother, Venkati's friend. The three had allegedly planned the venture. Venkati is absconding. The Adilabad Superintendent of Police, Kripa Nanda Tripathi Ujela, who visited the site where the dead body was found, said that prima facie it was a case of suicide. However, a definite opinion could be given after the post mortem, he said. The SP said financial problems had driven the constable, who was on guard duty at the STO, Wankidi, to steal the weapons. Early on Monday, villagers chanced upon the body and notified the police.
