NEW DELHI, OCT. 25. The Municipal Commissioner, Rakesh Mehta, today suspended the Additional Commissioner (Shahdara-South), M.U. Sarvar, for allegedly misbehaving with two women Congress Councillors in his office. After the matter was raised in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House condemning the incident, Mr. Mehta was asked to immediately suspend the officer and conduct an inquiry into the entire episode. Raising the issue, the Congress Councillor, Preeti, alleged that Mr. Sarvar misbehaved and used foul language when she had gone to his office to raise civic problems of her area. She alleged that Mr. Sarvar along with his subordinated took her hostage for over 45 minutes and misbehaved with her. Supporting Ms. Preeti, another Congress Councillor, Savitri Sharma, also alleged that whenever she had gone to meet Mr. Sarvar regarding some official work, he had never cooperated and often used filthy language. Hearing this, the entire MCD House, including the opposition BJP Councillors, rose on its feet and started demanding the immediate suspension of the officer. On this, the Mayor asked the Municipal Commissioner to immediately suspend Mr. Sarvar and conduct an inquiry. However, Mr. Sarvar, when contacted, alleged that it was Ms. Preeti and Ms. Sharma who had been approaching him with all sort of illegal demands.
