The man NTR trusted the most

By Our Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA, OCT. 26. Perhaps few would know that one of the most trusted "political aides" of the former Chief Minister, N.T. Rama Rao, was his personal barber!

In fact, NTR trusted his barber so much that he would spend more than half-an-hour with him every month to elicit feedback on the public opinion about the Telugu Desam Government's policies and actions.

"Whenever we tried to intervene, he would just brush aside our views and used to insist that the only way a political leader can get authentic information about the people's views is through the barber," recalled the Congress MLA and former Minister, G. Muddukrishnama Naidu.

Addressing the general body meeting of the State Nayee Brahmana Association here on Tuesday, Mr. Naidu, who continued his loyalty to NTR till the latter's death, said that the TDP founder always held a firm belief that the best feedback about the pulse of the people could be known only through barbers. This was because, people from different walks of life visited the barber's shop and invariably the discussions at these places were centred around day-to-day politics and the state of administration, Mr. Naidu said.
