NEW DELHI, OCT. 27. The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has informed Pratima Kumari that a hearing she had sought, in respect of her doping case, was unlikely to be held in the near future. Several hearing requests were being received by the IWF office in Budapest, the federation has informed Pratima. In its message to the Indian weightlifter who tested positive for steroid testosterone, just prior to the start of the Athens Olympics, the IWF has indicated that the Hearing Commission would take up her case along with that of several others one after the other on a single occasion. The panel would consist of members from different countries. "You will be informed on the developments," wrote the IWF Director, Ms. Agnes Lukacsfalvi, in an e-mail message to Pratima. The message also stated that the analytical reports from the Athens laboratory were sought and they would be forwarded to her as and when the IWF received the same. Pratima has been banned for life by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the Indian Weightlifting Federation while her case is pending before the IWF. She has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against the life-ban. Our Special Correspondent
