CHITTOOR, OCT. 27. Members of the district unit of the Teachers' Associations Struggle Committee, who assembled in front of the Collector's office to stage a dharna on Wednesday, to seek solution to their long-pending problems, split into two groups over wearing of badges and conducted separate meetings. Members of the United Teachers' Federation and Panchayat Teachers' Union pinned up the badges of their respective associations to their shirts while those of STU, APTF, RETU and other associations wore the badges of the Teachers' Associations Struggle Committee (USPS). This triggered a row between the two groups. Members of the United Teachers' Federation and Panchayat Teachers' Union formed one group and members of STU, APTF, RETU, and other associations formed another group albeit a common cause, and submitted memorandums to the DRO in the absence of the Collector, S.S. Rawat. The DRO admonished them for disunity on a trivial matter. Earlier, members of the Teachers' Associations Struggle Committee took out a procession from Gandhi statue on Prakasam Road to the Collector's office, Greamspet, demanding the Government to solve their problems.
