Sushma Rana finishes eighth

BANGKOK, OCT. 27. Sushma Rana finished eighth in women's 25-metre sport pistol event in the shooting World Cup finals here on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Sushma, younger sister of the renowned Indian marksman Jaspal Rana, had a modest 574 in the preliminary phase and a 100.5 in the final. She pipped Yauheniya Haluza of Belarus, on the count back, for the last berth in the final after the two had tied at 574 in a field of 12.

Maria Grozdeva of Bulgaria won the gold with a 691.6.

Lalita Yauhlevskaya (Aus) 683.3 (581); 6. Claudia Verdicchio (Ger) 679.5 (578); 7. Nino Salukvadze (Geo) 675.3 (579); 8. Sushma Rana (Ind) 674.5 (574).
