NEW DELHI, OCT. 28. The Bihar Governor, M. Rama Jois, has resigned. The resignation was faxed to Rashtrapati Bhavan today, official sources said. Mr. Jois is the second National Democratic Alliance-appointed Governor to have voluntarily quit office in less than a week. Earlier, the Rajasthan Governor, Madan Lal Khurana, submitted his resignation to the President, expressing a desire to return to active politics. Sources said that Mr. Jois requested the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, to accept his resignation from November 1. Before moving into the Patna Raj Bhavan in June 2003, Mr. Jois was the Governor of Jharkhand. He was earlier the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court. The ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal had, on several occasions in the recent past, demanded his removal. The Rabri Devi Ministry had been at loggerheads with the Raj Bhavan on several issues, including the appointment of Vice-Chancellors of different Universities.
