Working hours extended

MANGALOREUDUPIMANGALORECHITRADURGA, OCT. 28.OCT. 28.OCT. The working hours of the outpatient department of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunateshwara Ayurveda Hospital, Bejai, has been extended with effect from November 1.

A press release from the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Y.N. Shetty, said the OPD would function on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Sundays, it would function between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. More details could be had on ph: 2224884.

Proposal

MANGALOREUDUPIMANGALORECHITRADURGA, OCT. 28.OCT. 28.OCT. K. Jayaprakash Hegde, Brahmavar MLA, on Wednesday said a proposal for re-construction of all the eight slabs of the bridge at Barkur had been submitted to the Government.

He told presspersons here that the cost of the reconstruction of the bridge had been estimated at Rs. 2.60 crores.

A deviation road would be constructed near the bridge, he said. To construct the road, it was necessary to reduce the flow of water from the Neelawar dam. This would be done in a day or two, he added.

Inaugurated

MANGALOREUDUPIMANGALORECHITRADURGA, OCT. 28.OCT. 28.OCT. "Schools are nothing short of temples where children are trained to become good citizens," the KPCC President, B. Janardhana Poojary, said here today.

He was speaking after inaugurating the renovated building of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Model Higher Primary School at Bockpatna.

Presiding over the function, N. Yogish Bhat, MLA, recalled the contribution of Mr. Poojary in renovating the school.

The Mayor, Purandaradasa Kulur; the Deputy Mayor, Sujata Ahalya; and M. Venkatesh Achar, corporator, were present.

Suspended

MANGALOREUDUPIMANGALORECHITRADURGA, OCT. 28.OCT. 28.OCT. The chief librarian of the Chitradurga Central Library, V.B. Patil, has been kept under suspension on charges of unauthorised absence and dereliction of duty.

M.A. Sadiq, former Deputy Commissioner, in a surprise visit to the library had noticed the unauthorised absence of Mr. Patil.

He also found that the library was not maintained properly.

A committee was appointed to look into the matter.

After receiving the report, Mr. Sadiq had recommended Mr. Patil's suspension to the Government.

Acting on the recommendation, the Government suspended him from service, official sources said.
