Suggestions sought for improving water supply

HUBLI, OCT. 29. The Karnataka Jala Mandali, which has been entrusted with the responsibility of supplying drinking water to the twin cities, has invited suggestions from the public on measures to improve water supply and conserve water to avert water scarcity in the coming summer.

In an appeal here on Friday, Jayaram, Executive Engineer of the mandali, said that the time had come for taking steps to ensure that there was no shortage in water supply during the summer.

Though the mandali had taken steps to improve the situation and was tapping borewells too for supplying water, it had been noticed that water was not available in some borewells owing to over-exploitation.

The measures that could be taken to tide over the situation included fixing of the water meters in houses and taps for public supply, sprinkler irrigation for home gardens and desisting from using pumps for domestic supply lines.

Supply schedule

The following is the schedule for supply of drinking water in Dharwad, according to a press note issued by the mandali.

Purohit Nagar, Kakkayyana Nagar, Sangolli Rayanna Nagar, U.B. Hills (D.C.
