`Greater demand for herbal medicine in West'
By Our Special Correspondent
VIJAYAWADA,
OCT. 29.
The Commissioner for Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy, D.R.Garg, has said that herbal medicine has a greater demand in western countries, as people are growing more health-conscious by the day.
He has observed that the Indian firms making herbal medicine have a great scope for exporting their products if they take up good manufacturing practices (GMP).
Talking to presspersons at Vundavalli in Guntur district near here on Friday after inaugurating the newly-built GMP block of Imis Pharmaceuticals Private Limited, a local ayurvedic pharmacy, Mr. Garg said that there were 550 ayurvedic pharmacies in the State.
However, only 50-odd companies had adopted GMP.
