Jharkhand JD(U) may sever ties with BJP
By Our Staff Reporter
RANCHI,
OCT. 29.
The Janata Dal (United) is likely to sever its ties with the BJP-led NDA Government in Jharkhand before the coming Assembly elections following the complaint lodged with the national leadership by the State unit of the party against the `indifferent attitude' of the BJP.
At the party's national executive committee meeting here today, the JD (U) central leadership upheld the observation of the State unit that the BJP had been ignoring the party in the State. According to sources present at the meeting, the party national president, George Fernandes, took the complaint seriously and sought a consensus on whether or not the JD (U) should continue the alliance with the BJP in the State.
At the three-day meeting, the central leadership is expected to take a final decision in this regard. Sharad Yadav, Nitish Kumar and Digvijay Singh were also present.
Lashing out at the State BJP, the JD (U) State president, Indersingh Namdhari, said that even during the last Parliamentary elections, the BJP refused to compromise on seat-sharing with the party.
