TDP free to scrutinise tender records: Ponnala
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
OCT. 29.
The Government will show to leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) the records relating to tenders finalised for different packages of pending irrigation projects.
The files will be made available in the Major Irrigation Minister, Ponnala Lakshmaiah's chamber in the Secretariat.
The Minister told newsmen that scrutiny of files would be allowed in the presence of journalists and that he would also make himself available "to guide and reply" the TDP team.
The Minister tried to scotch criticism that work on Pulichintala was being commenced even before launch of projects in Telangana such as Bhima, Kalwakurthy and Nettampadu, which had been cleared by the Centre much earlier.
He said this was done because beneficiaries of these three projects had sought changes in the design to provide for increased storage capacities. They wanted 2-lakh acres under Kalwakurthy instead of mere 27,000 acres. Some packages were already grounded on Bhima.
Mr. Lakshmaiah said works estimated at Rs. 6,200 crores would be grounded in the region by mid-November against Rs. 14,000 crores set aside for Telangana projects.
