More LI schemes will tackle drought, says Speaker

NIZAMABAD, OCT. 29. The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, K.R. Suresh Reddy, has felt that the drought conditions in the district can be overcome by constructing more number of lift irrigation schemes on the Godavari.

Addressing a press conference at Perkit in his Balkonda constituency on Friday, he said the people were keen on early completion of irrigation projects and lift schemes across the Godavari.

Relief package

On the implementation of relief package to farmers under the Gupta lift scheme and the Pochampad project, he said he would review the matter with officials and ensure the relief soon.

He promised to ensure irrigation water to tailenders in the constituency.

The Speaker later inaugurated a causeway constructed on Gundayvagu under the Sriramsagar AIBP, a school building, Navodaya Youth Club and a R & B road at Nagampet. He also opened a drinking water pond for cattle at Krishnanagar.
