Service tax office to work this weekend

CHENNAI, OCT. 29. The Service Tax Commissionerate is working on Saturday and Sunday (October 30 and 31). The officers will be available between 10 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. According to J. Sridharan, Chief Commissioner of Central Excise, the service providers are requested to use this opportunity to register themselves with the service tax department to help avoid penalties. Assesses who are already registered can file service tax returns during these two days.

The assessees can approach the Office of the Commissioner of Service Tax, MHU Complex, 692, Anna Salai (near Periyar Maligai), Nandanam, Chennai-35 and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Service Tax, Central Excise Office Complex, 26/1, Uttamar Gandhi Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai-34.
