Guntur
By Our Staff Reporter
GUNTUR, OCT. 29. The three-member committee, trying to bring a consensus among the religious heads on the issue of construction of the Mahaprakaram and 1,000-pillared mandapam at Tirumala, met the Chinna Jeeyar Swamy at Seethanagaram at his ashram on Friday to ascertain his position. After an in-camera meeting, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy told reporters tonight that he had informed the committee headed by P.V. R. K. Prasad about his stand on the issue. He also expressed his belief that whatever was done by the devotees should be done peacefully. Jeeyar Swamy said he was correct in conducting a car rally on November 6 in support of his view on the construction of the mandapam. The committee members A. Chengappa and Y. Chakradhara Rao, also met Jeeyar Swamy and told reporters that this was only the preliminary exercise to bring a consensus among the agama shastra exponents and the historians, which was the most acceptable by the devotees. The final decision should be the most satisfying one for all the people involved in it, said Mr. Prasad.
