Petty vendor jumps to death

A petty vendor, Bhupathi Ramesh (41), committed suicide by jumping down from the Upper Tank Bund near `Snow World' on Friday afternoon. He died on the spot. The Chikkadpally police, who registered a case of suspicious death, suspect that pecuniary problems drove the victim to resort to the extreme step.

A resident of Gandhi Kutir locality in Narayanaguda, the victim reportedly slipped into depression, after his father had fallen sick. He left the house this afternoon saying he had some work outside. Around 4 p.m., he jumped down on the road below the Upper Tank bund.

Woman robbed of chain

Three motorcycle-borne youngsters snatched a gold chain from a housewife, Subhashini, at a stone's throwaway from the West Zone DCP office near Masab Tank on Thursday. The victim was walking on the road along with her sister-in-law, when the snatchers came from the opposite direction, pulled her chain and sped away towards Lakdikapul, the Nampally police said.

Flat burgled

Thieves broke into a flat on ground floor of Venkata Krupa Apartments in Domalguda and took away Rs. 50,000 in cash. The house owner, Vasant D. Kamath, and his family members left for Pune on Thursday. Kamath's daughter, Pavithra (22), slept in the flat of her relative of the same building. She found the almirah broke open on Friday morning and the cash stolen.
