HYDERABAD, OCT. 29. A Russian tourist, Robert Andy, was among six city bus passengers targeted by thieves on Thursday. The tourist was going from Secunderabad to Afzalgunj.
On reaching Afzalgunj bus stop, he found his black leather bag containing a credit card, Rs. 4,000 and 1,200 US dollars in cash stolen, the Afzalgunj police said.
A woman, G. Mahalaxmi, lost Rs. 22,000 in cash when unidentified persons took away her bag while travelling in a bus near Afzalgunj. A woman advocate, B. Rani Kamble, lost Rs. 700 in cash and two tolas of gold ornaments after thieves had stolen her purse. She boarded the bus at Arts College and found the purse missing while getting down at Tarnaka. A security guard, Y. Koteswar Rao, was robbed of Rs. 19,500 when he got into a bus at Amberpet. He found the cash missing as he got down at RTC crossroads.Thieves took away Rs. 11,000 in cash belonging to a businessman, M. Satyanarayana Murthy, when he boarded the bus at Dilsukhnagar. On reaching Nalgonda crossroads, he found his pocket picked, the Chaderghat police said.
A shop owner, D. Sheshagiri (64), lost Rs. 6,916 in cash after thieves picked his pocket at Masab Tank, the Humayunnagar police said. A resident of Upparpali in Rajendranagar, the victim was going towards Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital in a bus after closing the shop.
