By Our Staff Reporter
GUNTUR,
OCT. 29.
A 36-year-old youth, Gangaraju Jawahara Babu, who was lodged in the lock-up by the Sattenapalli police on Thursday afternoon on the charge of eve-teasing, died of fits and frothing in the police station on Friday morning.
Students of Girls High School hailing from Tondapi in Sattenapalli mandal had handed over the youth to the police alleging eve-teasing by him at the bus-stop.
The Sub-Inspector of Police, B. Rajasekhar, after lodging him in the cell, went out on some work, the police said.
On Friday when the youth began frothing after a bout of fits, the police took him to the local hospital, where he died while being treated.
The youth's father, Abraham, an ex-serviceman, said that Jawahar Babu was not mentally sound, not keeping good health from childhood and that he had the habit of walking in sleep.
There was no adverse reaction from family members and the body was sent for postmortem in the afternoon.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bala Narasimha Reddy, and the Revenue Divisional Officer, M. Venkateswara Rao, visited the hospital.
