MOSCOW, OCT. 30. The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, discussed preparations for his coming visit to India with Russia's new envoy to New Delhi. Mr. Putin met Ambassador Vyacheslav Trubnikov on Friday ahead of his departure to New Delhi to prepare the agenda of the Russian President's visit to India from December 3-5 for an annual Indo-Russian summit. "Issues related to the further development of relations between the two nations (and) their interaction on the international arena were also discussed," the Kremlin press service said. The Indian side is expected to push with Mr. Putin the idea of a strategic energy alliance, proposed by the Petroleum Minister, Mani Shankar Aiyar, during his visit here earlier this week. The two sides are going to sign an agreement on using Russian technology for underground coal gasification in India anda memorandum of understanding on wide-ranging cooperation in hydrocarbons that would guarantee India's energy security. The Indo-Russian Intergovernmental Commission will meet in New Delhi next month to discuss trade, economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation in the run-up to Mr. Putin's visit.
