India to host World Team event

MALLORCA, OCT. 30. Close on the heals of India's qualification for its maiden World Team chess championship comes the news that FIDE has confirmed it as the host for the 2005 edition. India's proposal to hold the premier team event was ratified by the FIDE General Assembly here on Friday.

Speaking to newspersons here, FIDE Vice President and Secretary of the All India Chess Federation P. T. Ummer Koya said the 10-nation event would be held sometime in the middle of next year. — Our Special Correspondent
