NEW DELHI, OCT. 30. The Army today recovered the bodies of three of its officers who died in a helicopter crash near the India-China border in Uttaranchal on Friday morning. The charred bodies of the 6 Mountain Division General-Officer Commanding, Major Gen. D. P. Singh, Lt. Col. P.K. Pandey and Capt. A.S. Sardana, were brought to the nearest town of Joshimath in the afternoon. Three ground search teams were sent to the areaearly today after an aerial survey spotted the wreckage of the helicopter on Friday. An Indian Tibetan Border Police team was the first to reach the spot following which the Army constructed a make-shift landing pad. The bodies were then brought to Joshimath by helicopter. The helicopter that crashed belonged to the Army aviation corps. It had taken off from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh at 7.30 a.m. for area reconnaissance and lost radio contact after two hours.
