PONDICHERRY, OCT. 30. With the heavy rain lashing Pondicherry showing no signs of respite, people living in low-lying areas are being evacuated to safer locations. The Education Minister, K. Lakshminarayanan, who also holds the revenue portfolio, told presspersons that six huts had collapsed in Ariyakuppam and Velrampet , though no casualties were reported. Those living in Kalathumedu Street, Sudhana nagar, Thulukathamman Nagar, Senbaganagar in Ariyakuppam, Allikulam in Thavalakuppamwere being moved to nearby school buildings.
